Orpheus was the best musician of the ancient times, better than the gods. The gods originally invented music, but in time, humans picked it up. Orpheus was destined to be a great musician (because he was the son of the muse, Calliope, as a mother and the prince of Thracia, Oeagrus, one the most musical towns in Greece). When Orpheus was playing the mini golden lyre given to him by Hermes, the god of music himself, there was no limit to his powers. When Orpheus played he could move all things inanimate and animate. He could move boulders, change the path of rivers, everything from trees to humans got up and followed him around.
